Make RBP4 a routine test as an  early warning signal to Diabetes

Serum retinol binding protein 4 (  RBP4) is a protein that carries retinol in blood. Its role is to deliver RBP4 from liver to surrounding tissues. RBP4 is  also known to be involved in insulin resistance, is produced by mature fat cells . RBP4 is a classic biomarker that is correlated with CVD ( cardiovascular disease) and diabetes.
You need to decrease  RBP4 levels by consuming healthy diet, workout and creating an awareness about an epidemic condition confronting 79 million Americans today. That is one third of the US population, meaning 1 out of every 3 individual is susceptible to an economic, healthcare drain of our already empty Medicaid dollars. Our diet should include fruits, which are low in calories and vegetables which can be sautéed and steamed to our taste. Of course water must be the drink replacing sodas and over advertised caffeine loaded drinks with sugar.  We can add soy products, tofu, tempeh which are rich in protein and vitamins to meet our daily  nutritional requirements.
It was reported in earlier studies that RBP4 is a early warning / signal for insulin resistance, which may lead to diabetes and cardiovascular disease.  Type 2 diabetes in women and men is pervasive in western world,  Barbara Kahn MD at Harvard medical school speculates diabetes may shorten lifespan in US this century.  Here is what diabetes does, Insulin build-up in cells leads to insulin resistance when  muscle, fat, liver cells fail to act from insulin signal, and  increases  glucose  levels in blood resulting in diabetes. According to Ulf smith a researcher at Goteberg Sweden, people who appear thin and healthy may be susceptible to diabetes due to their genetic predisposition.  RBP4  testing as part of the routine blood analysis can yield important clues to people of all ages including sedentary and overweight population. RBP4 levels have indicated a positive correlation with visceral fat and LDL- cholesterol levels in individuals and was independent of  body weight.
The mantra to prevent or reverse type 2 diabetes is keep moving, follow a set schedule of exercises or walk it off, A simple and easy way to prevent diabetes is only  one hour a day of walking which can lower your  blood pressure,  energize and  burn calories.

Celebrities with diabetes have voiced their support to prevent diabetes, Paula Deen the Southern chef features diabetes friendly recipes and raises awareness on her show. Halle Berry is die hard spokesperson who suggests seeking help and advice for diabetes. Many other celebrities' include, Drew Carey,  Gov. mike Huckabee, Larry King, Chaka Khan who is a vegan and lost 60 lbs weight by diet and exercise. Randy Jackson, American idol judge, Tracy Morgan the funny man from Saturday night live ignored warning signs and finally saw light in fight against diabetes. Let it not be you on this list, eat healthy, exercise and enjoy  healthy life.

Girls can tame boys and influence excellence

Some of our folks have started segregation of sexes in schools. More parents are now enrolling their kids in same sex schools. If you think a little, why Parents are opting for this move, its obvious that our public school system has failed to keep our kids as a cohesive unit in our schools. Schools are where our kids spend much of their time learning to interact, expand their thinking and horizons.
We are now in the process of disrupting a natural phenomenon that can help our kids, especially our boys to succeed in this complex world. A world that they will set foot as adults in a few years time that may have an impact for a lifetime. A Researcher at Tel Aviv University has found that girls have a positive influence on boys in school. The study noted that the grades of boys in schools with girls improved considerably in mixed classrooms. professor Analia Schlosser, an economist at Tel Aviv University reports that not only did the boys score better grades but also had less violent outbursts. Her study was carried out at Princeton University on a fellowship. The study also noted that with more girls in primary school, helped bothe boys and girl students to do better on math and science while, girls in middle school had higher academic achivement in english and math. Overall the high school students had superior academics.According to Prof. Analia the reason why this works is because girls tend to have a positive influence on boys and prevent classroom disruption and create ties that bond boys and girls and the teacher. Professor Schlosser's interest in this study was from an amendment to title IX regulation that provides the local communities flexibility in single sex classroom education in schools. This is something we need to think deeply if we need to keep our kids in school at the same time help them excel in science and math. It's time that our educators and interested communities attempt a similar research in our diverse society and maybe it will make American kids future into science an easier transition.
